Smile of the Month – May 2010

Invisalign Ollie & Darsh

12 months ago LD took advantage of our free consultation to enquire about how best her smile could be improved. She had been to several other dentists who proposed to correct her smile using veneers.

Once the process of veneers was explained to LD, the treatment didn’t appeal for the fact that her natural teeth would have been ’shaved down’ to create space for the veneers. On her consultation we advised that veneers were unlikely to correct her smile as the final shape of the veneers would appear relatively unaesthetic.

LD has had treatment regarding her smile for a number of years after wearing Fixed metal braces, her condition then relapsed and the picture shows where she was 12 months ago. As veneers was not an option of treatment for LD we provided her with the following choices:

  1. To seek advice from an specialist Orthodontist to completely remove the gaps of her upper and lower teeth.. however this would mean wearing fixed appliances
  2. To close the gaps at the front of her smile using Invisalign and push the upper gap to a point where no one would notice.

LD had completed a great deal of research, watching the videos on YouTube, reading online blogs and also the clinical research on Invisalign, the first option did not appeal as she did not want to wear fixed appliances again and so the relatively invisible Invisalign treatment was the best option for her.

After 12 months of treatment, LD’s issue regarding her smile have resolved and is now wearing Vivera retainers (not that any one notices!). We were able to move the gaps on her upper teeth to the back of her smile and she is really happy about it.

New Invisalign VIDEO Diary!

As regular followers of our blog will know, one of our clients, Nikos Papadopoulos, has been keeping an Invisalign diary and posting his experiences, thoughts and feelings on on our blog. Nikos has kept the diary up to date on a regular basis and if you are considering Invisalign treatment then reading through his entries will paint a picture of what it is really like to be an Invisalign patient at Ollie and Darsh.

Recently we armed Nikos with a video camera and saked him if he would be kind enough to do his next diary update as a video diary – he obliged and below is Nikos’ latest Invisalign diary update, filmed from his home country, Greece.

If you have any questions about Invisalign or any of our other treatments or if you would like to book an appointment please contact us on 0151 236 6578 or enail our Practice Manager Suzy, suzy@ollieanddarsh.co.uk.

Invisalign Diary – Part 9

We are approaching the summer now and it’s time to post an update we have received from one of our clients, Nikos Papadopoulos who has kindly agreed to keep a diary of his experiences throughout his Invisalign treatment here at Ollie & Darsh.  Nikos is providing a ‘patient side view’ of the treatment and we hope by following his blog it may answer some questions you may have about the Invisalign treatment.

Hello everyone

Its nearly 5 weeks since I was here trying to update you about my Ollie and Darsh  experience and today is the last time I have decided to write you a bit more ….Not because I have decided not to continue anymore, not because I am near the end of my treatment..but because it’s time for me to try something new so in few weeks times fingers crossed if everything goes according the plan you will be able to see me on camera talking to you instead of writing :) Its something new, and certainly it will be the first time in my life that I am trying to convince the camera to be good to me …so I would hope for your sympathy too :)

The story with my aligners continues and it’s been nearly a year now , and I have no words really to say thank you to all the team and everything they did and they continue to do for me ( especially to Suzy, Ollie and Shannie, what would I do without you guys…) Through my experience since last september I had the chance to share their thoughts about the expansion of Ollie and Darsh and now their new lounge is looking just amazing…exactly as amazing as the customer service they offer.

I wouldn’t like to repeat again the same things every time , thats why I will keep my email  simple this time and I would like to remind you that next time you hear from me it will be a very special time and hopefully a nice surprise for all of you … till then please stay here as I am sure you wont be disappointed.

Invisalign Diary – Part 8

It’s time to post an update we have received from one of our clients, Nikos Papadopoulos who has kindly agreed to keep a diary of his experiences throughout his Invisalign treatment here at Ollie & Darsh.  Nikos is providing a ‘patient side view’ of the treatment and we hope by following his blog it may answer some questions you may have about having Invisalign treatment.

Hello everyone.

It was exactly 7 months ago when I first visited Ollie and Darsh and had my first chat with Suzy.  Seven months later I feel a lot more confident about my teeth and I know that I haven’t seen anything yet as the treatment may continue for a while yet, however, I am so excited about the final result :)
I have had my aligners changed and am on set number 14 and I only have one more set left for my lower teeth which looks almost perfect.

Now I am so looking forward to meeting my Sister who is coming over all the way from sunny warm  Greece to  Liverpool for the festive period of Easter, and to tell her all about it , show her my teeth and make her feel impressed a lot which I am sure she will be.  It’s the first time I will be able to show a member of my family the  progress  of my teeth and I can’t wait because it’s something I always talk about every time I call them and now this is my chance to show them in real life this amazing experience.  Again this experience wouldn’t be amazing at all if I didn’t have this team to support me all the way through.

On my behalf I would like to wish them the very best of luck for their new place and I am sure very soon it will be full of new clients who will achieve the perfect smile.  I wish all of you a Happy Healthy Easter and yes please stay here and I will update you in a few weeks time how impressed the Greeks were :) after their visit here in Liverpool :)

Invisalign Diary – Part 7

We are well into the New Year now and it’s time to post an update we have received from one of our clients, Nikos Papadopoulos who has kindly agreed to keep a diary of his experiences throughout his Invisalign treatment here at Ollie & Darsh.  Nikos is providing a ‘patient side view’ of the treatment and we hope by following his blog it may answer some questions you may have about the Invisalign treatment.

Hello Everyone,

This is just a quick update on my diary and the progress of my teeth since I decided to visit Suzy and Ollie and Darsh 6 months ago.  Yes the time goes so quick and in all these 6 months the support I have had and all of the support I continue to receive from all these guys is incredible.

A few weeks ago when I was ready to change my 11th set of aligners I realised that something was wrong as I could see a small gap between the back end of my teeth and the aligners.

That made me a bit self-conscious as anyone could notice I was wearing something on my teeth and I certainly didn’t like the idea of it.  So I decided to email Suzy and she suggested that I go down to the practice the next morning so they could have a look at it and so I did. I also have to say that I emailed her very late in the evening and I was in there the next morning for 8am!

Ollie after he examined my teeth managed to move the attachments and now everything is perfect again.  All I wanted to say is that nothing is too much trouble for these guys who will do everything for you and they will meet 100% of anyone s expectations.

I am so looking forward to my perfect smile in a year’s time more and more now and I know that when I move back to Greece one day I will be so proud to say that I met the nicest people I could ever hope to meet, who helped me to achieve one of the biggest goals in my life.
