Six Month Smile vs Invisalign: Which is Better?

So you’re dreaming of your perfect smile – one that lights up your face and helps you show off your beautiful teeth with confidence. That’s what we’re here for!

There are many different types of braces available to help you achieve it. Whereas once, braces meant having a mouth full of metal for at least a couple of years, new innovations in orthodontic technology mean that braces are now more discreet – and often faster-acting – than ever.

Two of the most popular options are Invisalign and Six Month Smiles. Both can help you achieve the smile of your dreams – but which is best? Here, we weigh up the various advantages to compare these two highly effective teeth braces for adults.

The Benefits of ‘Six Month Smile’ Braces

Do you want straighter front teeth in a short period of time? Don’t like the thought of wearing unsightly – and often painful – metal braces for anywhere up to five years? Six Month Smiles braces could be the perfect solution. With clear brackets and white wires, they’re far less noticeable than traditional braces.

This clear braces system is designed to straighten your most visible teeth – those at the front of your mouth – in an average of six months. The length of time you’ll spend wearing your clear braces will vary depending on your circumstances; it can take up to nine months, or could even be as fast as four months. Throughout the course of your treatment, we’ll make between three and seven adjustments to your Six Month Smiles braces. Of course, we’ll talk you through your full treatment plan upfront, so you’ll never be in the dark about what’s coming next.

It’s also worth noting that, due to the speed at which results are achieved, Six Month Smiles is often a less expensive solution than conventional metal braces – not to mention significantly less invasive.

The Benefits of Invisalign Braces

With Invisalign, you won’t be wearing braces at all. Instead, you’ll wear a series of bespoke clear – and comfortable – aligners. Every two weeks you’ll be given a new aligner. This means the position of your teeth will change slowly over time, with none of the discomfort that’s typically experienced when metal braces are first fitted or adjusted.

At the start of an Invisalign treatment, one of our experienced clinicians will examine your teeth and discuss your smile goals. Next, we’ll make a computer model that shows the original position of your teeth and the steps we’ll take to create your perfect smile. Of course, we also monitor your progress throughout the treatment – usually every two months – to check everything’s on track.

While the length of your Invisalign plan will naturally vary based upon your circumstances, the average adult patient will wear their aligners for around a year. Although longer than Six Month Smiles, Invisalign can be used to treat more complex cases, and also has the advantage of being virtually invisible.

You’ll need to wear your aligners for an average of 20 to 22 hours a day, which allows them to be removed at meal times. This is a big advantage – speak to anyone who’s had metal braces before and they’ll tell you just how annoying it can be to wear them while eating!

Which Type of Brace Works the Fastest?

While speed isn’t the only consideration here, Six Month Smiles are particularly effective – and popular – thanks to their fast-acting results. With Six Month Smiles, you’ll start to notice changes to the alignment of your front teeth within the first few weeks of being fitted. Moving forward, you should be able to see month-on-month improvements to the straightness of your most prominent teeth.

However, that’s not to say that Invisalign is a slow option. With an average treatment time of 12 months for adults, Invisalign is still considerably faster than traditional metal braces, which often take two years or more to achieve the desired results.

Six Month Smiles vs Invisalign: Which is the Best Option?

Six Month Smile

Every smile is different. When it comes to Six Month Smiles vs. Invisalign, the best option will depend upon your circumstances and goals. If you have a more complex case or simply don’t fancy wearing fixed braces for any set period of time, Invisalign will naturally be the best option. Expecting to see rapid results? Six Month Smiles may provide the perfect solution.

Ultimately, the best way to understand your options and choose the best one is by booking a free consultation. We’ll ask about your goals and lifestyle, talk through your options in plain English, and help you to choose a treatment that suits your needs.
