Restore your smile with permanent, natural-looking dental implants

Dental implants provide a permanent, natural-looking solution for restoring your smile if you have damaged or missing teeth. They effectively fill in the blanks, whether it be one tooth or both sets of arches, so you can finally show off your perfect smile, enjoy all your favourite foods, and ditch the dentures.

Every dental implant treatment begins with a free initial consultation followed by an in-depth examination of your teeth. A titanium post is then implanted into your jawbone to replace the root of your missing tooth. Once the bone and implant have fused, we can introduce your made-to-measure, colour-matched porcelain crown.

Dental Implant Benefits

Dental implants are an investment, both for your oral health and self-confidence, with many benefits:

  • Permanent: Dental implants are a fixed, long-lasting solution in which you can be 100% confident.
  • Natural: Crowns are individually designed and colour-matched to your teeth for a natural smile.
  • Empowering: Dental implants restore your bite so that you can enjoy all your favourite foods again.
  • Restorative: Dental implants stimulate your jawbone, helping to prevent additional bone loss.
  • Convenient: Dental implants don’t require any preparation of your existing, healthy teeth.
  • Secure: Dental implants are strong and secure, so you never have to worry about them falling out.

The Process

  • Phase 1: Dental Implant Placement

Your experienced implant surgeon will apply a local anaesthetic before implanting a titanium post into your jawbone. This quick and relatively pain-free process takes 1-2 hours per tooth. Any slight discomfort you may experience after the treatment will quickly fade as your mouth begins to heal.

  • Phase 2: Biological Integration

After your dental implant is fitted, your jawbone will slowly fuse to the titanium post. It can take 2-3 months (but sometimes longer) for the implant to bond with your jawbone fully. Once we are satisfied that the bonding process has succeeded, we can move on to the final stage.

  • Phase 3: Restoring the Dental Implant

Finally, once your dental implant has successfully fused with your jawbone, creating a strong and stable foundation, your surgeon can complete your crown or bridge. Our porcelain crowns are custom-made to blend in with the rest of your teeth, with a size, fit and colour that perfectly complements your smile.

Frequently Asked Dental Implant Questions

The titanium post part of a dental implant works much the same as the root of a missing tooth once did. Once implanted, the jawbone becomes stimulated, and the bone fuses with the implant. This process takes time, typically around 2-3 months, by which time an individually designed crown can then be attached.

Dental implant treatments vary in cost. It purely depends on your individual needs. As a general rule of thumb, dental implants start from £2,400 per implant. At Ollie & Darsh, we offer 10, 12 and 24-month interest-free dental plans to spread the cost of your dental implants, making them an achievable dream for most people.

Dental implants are less of a quick fix and more of a long-term investment. The initial implant placement is a relatively quick and pain-free process (although you may feel some discomfort that will quickly subside as you heal), taking just a couple of hours per implant.

The time-consuming part is the 2-3 months it generally takes for the implant to bond to your jawbone. The whole process can take 3-9 months, from your initial free consultation to your examination, installing the implant and fitting the crown.

With an effective dental hygiene routine, your implants should last a lifetime. It depends on how well you care for your implants and crowns. Regular brushing and flossing, combined with regular appointments with your dentist and hygienist, will keep your dental implants in perfect condition for decades.

Remember that lifestyle choices, injuries and certain medical conditions can shorten the lifespan of your dental implants. It’s also worth noting that the average lifespan of a porcelain dental crown ranges between five to 15 years.

Most dental implants, consisting of a post that replaces the root of the missing tooth and an abutment that attaches to the implant for the crown to be fixed upon, are made of titanium. This is because titanium is a strong, light material that fuses well with bone. The crowns we use are typically made from hard-wearing porcelain.

The surgical process of placing your dental implant should be a pain-free experience, as it is performed under local anaesthetic to numb your mouth. Following your treatment, you may feel some level of pain that will quickly subside as your gums and jaw begin to heal. However, achieving your perfect smile will more than compensate for the minimal discomfort you’re likely to experience in the short term.

Dental implants are a modern method of replacing damaged or lost teeth and provide a healthy, natural-looking smile. The implant is a metal post, usually made of titanium, which supports dental prostheses such as crowns, bridges and dentures. The implant, which is placed into the jawbone, can replace the root of a tooth when it fails.

Dental implants have become an increasingly popular solution for individuals with missing teeth, offering a durable and natural-looking alternative to dentures or bridges. But, with their growing popularity, are dental implants safe? Dental implant procedures are considered quite safe, given that they are performed by skilled and experienced dental professionals using appropriate materials and techniques.

The success rate of dental implants is around 95-98%, showcasing their effectiveness and reliability. Moreover, advances in dental technology have improved precision and patient comfort during the implant process.

However, it is important to note that, as with any surgery, some risk is still involved. Following your dentist’s advice on post-operative care and maintaining good oral hygiene practices is crucial to minimise these risks. Safety comes first when it comes to dental implants, resulting in a healthier and more confident smile.

Gum disease, or periodontal disease, can be a roadblock for those considering dental implants. Patients who suffer from this condition might wonder if dental implants are a viable option for them.

Gum disease presents particular challenges, but it should be noted that it does not necessarily rule out the possibility of having dental implants. Primarily, the success of dental implants in patients with gum disease relies on the severity of the condition and the effectiveness of the treatment plan implemented by their dental professional.

By tackling gum disease at its earliest stages, implementing diligent oral hygiene practices, and closely partnering with a professional cosmetic dental practice.

The first type is the endosteal implant, which is the most prevalent option and involves placing a screw-like structure into the jawbone for a secure and long-lasting foundation.

The subperiosteal implant sits on top of the jawbone but under the gum tissue, making it a suitable choice for individuals with insufficient jawbone density.

Zygomatic implants represent a less common yet highly effective solution for specific cases, as these implants are placed in the cheekbone rather than the jawbone.

Dentists often recommend dental implants as a long-lasting and reliable solution to replace missing teeth or to support ill-fitting dentures.

Dental implants provide a natural appearance and offer a comfortable and secure fit, allowing patients to eat, speak, and smile with ease. Furthermore, implants help prevent bone loss and preserve the facial structure, leading to a rejuvenated and youthful appearance.

Patients can experience superior functionality, durability, and confidence in having a complete and beautiful smile by choosing dental implants.
